We have a variety of services at St. Gabriel's and these are listed below so that you can see what they are and when they take place. Please refer to the calendar to see what service is taking place each Sunday.
This is the main service on a Sunday morning at 10am and takes place on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays of each month. We use the modern Communion service and the children go out for their own group during the Sermon, returning for the main part of the service and either take Communion or to come up for a blessing.
This service is a new service that replaces the old Family Service. It takes place on the first Sunday of each month at 10am. The first part of the service is for the children - singing their songs, watching a DVD Bible story and involving them in the prayers. They then go out to do craft work on the topic for that day leaving the adults to worship together using things like a visual psalm and with a sermon geared to some relevant contemporary topic. The large screen doors between Church and Hall are open throughout and people can move about freely and have a coffee/juice whenever they want. At the end we all enjoy coffee/tea/juice with croissants, fresh fruit, and other 'goodies'.
This is a simple 'word' based service with plenty of singing at 10am if there is not a Communion service. This normally happens when there is a 5th Sunday in the month.
This is the old monastic service that was said as the final act of worship before going to bed. We use it as a quiet service that is more meditative on the 2nd Sunday of the month at 6pm.
This is a service entirely for Children aged 4 - 11 and is a mixture of games, DVD story, craft, prayer and song, and takes place on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 5pm.
This takes place when there has been no Family Communion in the morning - 1st and 5th Sundays of the month at 6pm. It is a quieter shorter service and done in the 'round'.
This service is on the 4th Sunday of each month and will sometimes be based around an Iona or Taize type service or be a meditation led by members of the congregation.
